Popular flea and tick collar now available in UK without a prescription

New Seresto Flea and Tick Control collar gives pets up to eight months of protection from fleas and ticks and is now available without a prescription.

One in five cat and dog owners admit they treat their pets for fleas less than once a year. A lack of flea and tick prevention could mean many British pets are left at risk of vector-borne diseases including Babesiosis and Lyme disease, or other parasite related conditions such as flea allergy dermatitis.

To help address this, Bayer has launched the new Seresto Flea and Tick Control collar,
which offers up to eight months of protection for dogs and cats. The collar works by releasing active ingredients from its unique collar matrix in controlled low doses, giving long-lasting protection.

Eight animal-loving celebrities and influencers have joined the Seresto Flea and Tick Control collar #8Months of Love campaign to raise awareness of the need to keep Britain’s pets parasite free. TV presenter and boy band star JB Gill is supporting the launch alongside TV vet Dr Rory Cowlam.

Dr Rory Cowlam said: “Whilst working as a vet I regularly see pets suffering from flea and tick bites. Whilst most owners are well intentioned, it can be difficult for them to remember to proactively treat their pets. This can leave them at risk of contracting dangerous diseases, not to mention the stress and discomfort parasites can cause. Prevention is always best and now with Seresto Flea and Tick Control collar there is an easy way to protect them year-round.”

Hannah Watts, brand manager at Bayer, said: “The beauty of Seresto Flea and Tick Control collar is that it kills fleas and ticks through contact, so the parasites do not have to bite to be killed. The collar kills fleas and repels and kills ticks through its unique slow release mode of action enabling owners to pop it on and forget about it for up to 8 months.”
