The Kennel Club and BVA are pleased to offer free eye testing to exhibitors at Crufts this year. Forty appointments per day will be available free of charge, giving a total of 160 free appointments across the four days of the show, funded jointly by the Kennel Club and the BVA.
The free testing sessions will be booked on a first come, first served basis and allocated in the order they are received. Restricted to one per exhibitor, the free bookings will be taken from 7 February on email health@thekennelclub.org.uk.
Exhibitors must provide all of the following details in their email:
- Name of owner
- Registered name of dog
- Registration number
- Microchip number
- Preferred time slot (am or pm)
- Mobile telephone number
If any of the required details are missing, the email will be rejected and a free appointment will not be allocated. Under no circumstances can appointments be booked over the phone.
Please note the eye examination being offered is a routine one. Gonioscopy will not be available at the show. Exhibitors who are successful at securing an appointment are asked to bring their dog’s Kennel Club registration certificate with them, as well as details of their vet.
Once the free appointments are filled, the Kennel Club will do its best to send the details through of upcoming eye testing sessions after Crufts for exhibitors who missed out.
Vanessa McAlpine, Crufts Show Manager, said: “This is a fabulous offer for exhibitors showing at Crufts who wish to have their dog eye tested. By screening breeding stock for these diseases, breeders can use the information to eliminate or reduce the frequency of eye disease being passed on to puppies. We are expecting a huge uptake for this offer, so don’t delay in applying by email.”
More information on eye testing can be found on the Kennel Club website and the BVA website.
