BSAVA is giving the veterinary industry a unique opportunity to see how BSAVA Virtual Congress (25 – 27 March 2021) has been shaped from conception to fruition, with a brand new twice monthly blog.
Written by key members of the Virtual Congress team, the Congress Diaries will give an exclusive insight into Virtual Congress and its content, as well as the people behind the scenes. They will reveal the challenging journey taken to build Europe’s largest event for the small animal veterinary sector, from the masterminding of more than 130 hours of CPD, to the creation of a virtual exhibition hall and the enterprising development of virtual face-to-face networking and socials.
“Congress is proudly ‘by the professions, for the professions’ and our Congress teams have been working tirelessly to deliver a truly outstanding event,” said Professor Ian Ramsey, President of the BSAVA. “The difficult circumstances of the pandemic have motivated us to record our experiences, to provide some intriguing personal and practical perspectives and to reveal exactly what goes on behind the scenes to make our amazing Congress happen.”
The first blog, now live, uncovers some of the volunteers working diligently behind the scenes and reveals a new format for the main sessions. In the coming weeks readers will be treated to a Q and A, with Professor Ian Ramsey posing questions to Delegate Experience Committee chair, Julian Hoad. Ian will be asking him about the essence of Congress and his passion for the event as well as his plans to deliver the ultimate delegate experience.
A new blog or vlog will be published every other week, featuring different members of the team at the sharp end of the event, with topics including:
- How Congress changed my career
- BSAVA Congress survey results: what you are looking forward to most
- Exhibitor and sponsor stories
- How Congress delivers ROI for practices
- Up close and personal with one of the International speakers at Congress
- Top tips for making the most of Congress
- Congress highlights as chosen by volunteers
BSAVA Congress will deliver an abundance of live content via 24 modules with 80 hours of live programming, supported by a library of 100 on-demand webinars. Scientific content will be available on the platform for 30 days and then available to attendees via the BSAVA library.
Veterinary and nursing content has been integrated for the first time to reflect how the two professions work closely together in practice, using complementary skills and knowledge. The decision to blend the modules follows the BVA’s vet-led “hub and spoke” model to support effective teamwork between vets and allied professionals.
“We hope the diaries will intrigue, inspire and inform our members during the countdown to Congress,” said Ian. “We get such a buzz out of building the best event possible each year and, despite some obstacles this year, namely COVID-19, 2021 is shaping up to be the best ever. Don’t miss it.”
