Macahl Animal Health, manufacturer of Oralade, is set to offer greater support to veterinary practices following the appointment of Gemma Davidson, BVSc, MRCVS, as veterinary technical manager. Gemma brings valuable knowledge from her background in animal health nutrition, plus extensive learning and development experience, and will be on hand to assist veterinary professionals with case management enquiries. Gemma’s vision for her new role is to foster strong relationships with the wider veterinary community to help drive new product development enabling Macahl Animal Health to continue providing cutting-edge practical solutions to veterinary practices and pet owners globally.
Gemma gained her veterinary science degree from the University of Liverpool in 2010 and since her move from small animal practice in 2015 has gained extensive and diverse industry experience. In addition, Gemma has a strong background in developing curriculums for continual professional development (CPD) and delivering comprehensive technical support to veterinary teams.
Gemma says: ‘The rise in pet ownership during the pandemic has brought new challenges for the veterinary community and by joining Macahl Animal Health I hope to play my part in navigating these. I am looking forward to collaborating with veterinary teams both in the UK and internationally, speaking to them about the fantastic products in the Oralade portfolio and discovering how we can continue to provide the best ongoing practical support through high-quality CPD and new product innovations.’
The family-led company already exports to more than 50 countries globally from their base in Northern Ireland and is dedicated to improving the lives of animals and veterinary professionals alike, looking to reach more pets elsewhere in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Gemma will be working with veterinary practices, referral centres and universities internationally to help promote a rounded approach to pet care.
Anthony Mackle, Managing Director of Macahl Animal Health, adds: ‘Gemma is a brilliant asset to the company and we are pleased to welcome her to the team as we look to develop some really forward-thinking pet care products. It’s been a difficult year for veterinary teams and we are thinking about different ways in which we can provide more assistance with CPD and case queries.’
