“Fantastic” response to new VMG-ILM qualifications in veterinary leadership and management

Registration for the new qualifications is now open

The Veterinary Management Group (VMG) has described as “fantastic” the response to the launch of its new qualifications in veterinary leadership and management.

VMG’s Certificate in Veterinary Practice Management was the industry standard for over 25 years. As part of its mission to empower and equip 21st
century leaders across the sector, the VMG has revised and rebuilt the CVPM into a contemporary suite of qualifications offering accessibility, flexibility and challenge. More than 50 applied to join the first two cohorts which start in Spring and Autumn.

The qualifications are accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management and are fully modular, enabling participants from the UK and around the world to build a qualification to suit their role, their ambitions, and their areas of interest. Sixteen modules are currently offered, including:

  • Project Management
  • Developing Teams
  • Leading Change
  • Community and Society
  • Marketing and PR
  • Practice Finance
  • Mental Health in the Workplace

Course Director Dr Hannah Perrin said: “VMG is the only veterinary association in the world accredited to award ILM qualifications in our own right, giving CVLM participants the best of both worlds: a highly relevant, tailor-made qualification for their role in the veterinary sector, plus a globally-recognised leadership and management qualification should they decide to diversify.”

She added: “The course content incorporates the latest thinking in leadership and management, as well as addressing a range of contemporary issues, both sector-specific and affecting the wider business and social environment. Participants will be introduced to inspiring and thought-provoking new concepts and encouraged to apply them to their area of work, guided and supported by expert tutors.”

She added: “Professional development is a fundamental factor in supporting existing and aspiring leaders in the veterinary sector. Our new accredited qualifications will give veterinary leaders and teams the knowledge, skills and confidence to develop both personally and professionally. We are delighted at the fantastic response we’ve received, with a brilliant and diverse group of participants having already embarked on their learning with us. We look forward to welcoming our next cohort in the Autumn.”

Registration for the new qualifications is now open with further information available online.
