IMV imaging, a world leader in veterinary diagnostic imaging technology, recently supported Leicestershire based Twycross Zoo in upgrading their X-ray imaging equipment by donating a brand-new wireless DR X-ray system. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Twycross Zoo, renowned as a World Primate Centre, was forced to remain closed throughout the summer of 2020 which resulted in huge financial strain on the charity with the potential for a significant impact on its staff and animals.
With approximately 500 animals of almost 100 species under their care, it is extremely important that the veterinary staff at Twycross have the right equipment to aid them in providing the best animal care possible. As specialists in veterinary imaging, IMV imaging designs, manufactures and sources diagnostic imaging equipment specific to veterinary use and the new wireless DR X-ray system provides the ideal solution to meet the needs of the staff at Twycross.
Phillipa Dobbs, Veterinary Services Manager at Twycross Zoo, said, “We’re absolutely delighted to have received this generous donation from IMV imaging and it has transformed our procedure giving us super clear x-ray results. We’d like to say a massive thank you to the whole team for their kind gift.”
For over 35 years, IMV imaging (previously BCF Technology) have been dedicated to supporting the veterinary and livestock industries in improving animal care. With core values of “Innovation”, “Partnership” and “Learning”, the organisation is committed to providing the very best in equipment, education and support to its customers.
Commenting on the donation, Gavin Mitchell, Global Companion Animal Director at IMV imaging commented, “We have always strongly believed in giving back to the community and when I was approached and asked about being able to help Twycross Zoo, I wanted to do more than just give them an X-ray system. We are always looking to provide equipment that makes a real difference to the lives of those using it and in turn improve the care that the animals receive. As with other technology, veterinary X-ray technology has continued to innovate and I am really excited that we were able to upgrade the zoo’s X-ray from a CR to a wireless DR system, which should make life a lot easier for the vets in obtaining the X-ray images. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of our lives but we at IMV imaging have adapted and continued supporting our customers throughout with remote demos, servicing and free educational resources. Being able to support Twycross Zoo and the animals in their care is something we are proud of and it really reinforces why we do what we do.”
