Vetoquinol empowers the veterinary industry to battle burnout with three-part webinar series

Vetoquinol’s webinar series will give attendees the chance to reset and recharge, as well as learn new techniques to cope with workplace stress from special guests Professor Matthew Walker and Tim Smale

On Tuesday 12 October 2021, Vetoquinol UK, the eighth largest veterinary pharmaceutical company in the world, announced that they will be running a three-part webinar series in collaboration with The Webinar Vet.

Although Vetoquinol recognises that there is more to be done at a training and recruitment scale to solve the crisis, the company wants to give support to those on the front line – from practice nurses to farm vets – and encourage them to take time out for their own well-being.

The series will provide veterinary professionals from all disciplines with three evenings of bespoke sessions, designed to help tackle burnout and give practical tips for overcoming stress. With the veterinary industry stretched to breaking point due to the pandemic pet ownership boom and staff shortages, looking after mental health has never been more important.

Titled “Battling Burnout with Vetoquinol”, the webinars will take place on the 16 November, 24 November, and 30 November on The Webinar Vet. Webinars one and three will start at 8pm GMT, and webinar two at 7:30pm GMT.

The first session will consist of a motivational talk from scientist and author of the international bestseller Why We Sleep, Professor Matthew Walker, discussing why sleep is vital for alleviating stress and tackling burnout.

Webinar two will be an introduction to hypnotherapy as an alternative way to boost morale and deal with hardships with Clinical Hypnotist Tim Smale, followed by a taster group hypnosis session.

The third webinar will provide the audience with a guided meditation and Q&A around stress, perspective and positivity from Will Williams, founder of Beeja Meditation.

Caitrina Oakes, managing director at Vetoquinol UK and NOAH chair said: “It is heartbreaking that vets are three to four times more likely to die by suicide than the general population. The last eighteen months have taken a huge toll on all vets and their teams as their mental health declined but demand for their services only increased.

“As a veterinary pharmaceutical business, we understand that vets are the backbone of all animal care in the UK, which is why we are proud to be hosting this webinar series and providing support to the community in trying times. It is now time for all key industry players to recognise the strain on veterinary professionals and to give support to those who selflessly look after the well-being of our farm, equine, and companion animals every day.”
