Help shape the future of the veterinary profession

With several vacancies to be filled in their committee, the British Veterinary Association is seeking members with a range of experience and professional expertise

The British Veterinary Association (BVA) is inviting applications from dedicated and motivated members to help shape the future of the profession by joining BVA Council and other panels and committees.

With several vacancies to be filled, BVA is seeking members with a range of experience and professional expertise to join their committees. Among them is a vacancy on BVA Council, which is seeking a recent graduate member who would be keen to participate actively in discussions and to bring the views of their peers into meetings and discussions of this key decision-making body.

The BVA Policy Committee has four spaces and applications are invited from members across all sectors of the profession. The successful applicants will be chosen for their skills and experience in policy development, evidence gathering and research, decision making and problem solving.

This year, there are two vacancies for MRCVS members on the Ethics and Welfare Advisory Panel. Members will be selected for their expertise in animal welfare science, ethics and/or law.

There are also a number of opportunities to get involved with BVA’s Branch councils in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as the newly formed Member Benefits and Events Committee.

All positions are voluntary and the work carried out counts towards members’ CPD.

BVA President Justine Shotton said: “If you are keen to help shape the future of the veterinary profession, want to share your views on the topics which are important to you and your colleagues and have the expertise and passion to help drive forward change, we want to hear from you.

“This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who want their voices to be heard to get involved in shaping BVA policies. I’d urge anyone interested to apply for these positions, which are sure to be both rewarding and highly interesting. We look forward to hearing from you.”
