Ekyflogyl Gel is the only topical corticosteroid gel for horses approved in the UK.
Ekyflogyl Gel is a bestselling solution on the continent and is already known by many UK equine vets for its efficacy, versatility and ease of use. It is now widely available with all UK wholesalers. The gel has a unique composition of three ingredients: prednisolone, lidocaine and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The formula of this unique topical gel is indicated for the treatment of localised musculoskeletal disorders such as tendinitis, splints, arthritis, desmitis, muscle strain and haematoma.
These ingredients have three distinctive roles: prednisolone is a deep-acting corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Lidocaine is a fast-acting local anaesthetic with a direct action
on the pain transmission, and DMSO is an essential vehicle to promote penetration of active substances
through the skin.
Localised musculoskeletal disorders are a frequent ailment in all horses. Indeed 97 percent of owners have already encountered at least one sign of inflammation linked to a musculoskeletal disorder in their
horse* (according to a 2019 Audevard survey of 1,225 horse owners) and 92.9 percent of horses that start training develop at least one kind of musculoskeletal disorder.
