Event to empower from Veterinary Women in Leadership

Veterinary Women In Leadership is offering an online CPD event to help women in leadership positions with  problem-solving challenges and building confidence in working towards career goals

Veterinary Women In Leadership (VWIL), a collaborative initiative between Veterinary Woman and XLVets, is offering an online CPD event, “Realise Your Leadership Potential”, which focuses on problem-solving challenges and building confidence in working towards career goals.

The Veterinary Women In Leadership event will include interactive workshop sessions on “Developing Your Personal Brand”, “Finding Flexible Working Solutions” and “Financial Security and Negotiation Skills”. Inspirational women from all areas of the veterinary industry will also be sharing their career stories. The virtual event provides six hours of CPD and will take place between 1pm to 7pm on 30 June 2022. Those interested in attending can find out more online.

The speaker line-up for the event includes Katie Ford an d Paul Horwood from VetYou, who in their workshop session on “Financial Security and Negotiation Skills” will be addressing overcoming barriers in talking about, navigating and creating security with money to arm delegates with negotiation tools and useable resources.

Flexee’s Silvia Janska takes a look at “Finding Flexible Working Solutions”, including how they can be implemented in practice to empower individuals and teams, and benefit the business.

Naomi Oikonomou from Companion Consultancy will lead a workshop on “Developing Your Personal Brand” to build delegates’ confidence in ways to explore and articulate personal identity and strengths, and apply brand marketing principles to boost career success.

The Veterinary Women In Leadership event will also feature “Seeing is Believing” breakout sessions with female speakers from all spheres of veterinary practice, business, industry, nursing and education, sharing their career stories and taking part in Q&A sessions. A key enabler to development as a leader is seeing others do it and hearing their career stories – effectively having role models.

Alice Moore of Garston Veterinary Group and XL Vets will be hosting the event alongside Jenny Langridge of Companion Consultancy and Veterinary Woman.

Alice explains: “We aim to help delegates explore actions they can take towards reaching their career goals, develop confidence in meeting leadership challenges and feel empowered about achieving aspirations. Hearing others’ stories and being able to talk with women about their careers is inspiring and encouraging.”

The Veterinary Women In Leadership event is suited to all those thinking about the next career step, considering leadership roles or already working within leadership positions in the veterinary sector. Veterinary professionals and students can take advantage of an early-bird rate until 31 May. For more information and to register for the event, visit the event page.
