A campaign promoting mindfulness in veterinary practices is rapidly gaining momentum with hundreds of vets and nurses from around the globe registering for two free webinars that will highlight the challenges of clinical life and explore how to take ownership of self-care and well-being with healthy habits. Crucially the webinars, which will be hosted by leading veterinary practice management software company, ezyVet, are approved by the Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE), meaning they will contribute towards veterinary professionals’ CPD requirements.
Vets and nurses can register for the webinars at register online.
The first event, on Thursday 19 May, will feature Dr Marie Holowaychuk who is a passionate champion for wellness in the veterinary industry. Marie has spent more than 15 years speaking to audiences around the world, drawing on her personal experiences and evidence-based information to empower veterinary professionals to take ownership of their personal and professional well-being. Marie is a small animal emergency and critical care specialist who facilitates wellness workshops and retreats for practices and offers individual coaching and group well-being sessions for veterinary professionals. Based in the Canadian city of Calgary, her event will start at 11pm (BST). When you register ezyVet will email you the webinars to watch at a time suited to you.
A week later, at 8pm (BST) on Thursday 26 May, Dr Andy Green, who is people director at Kent based Pennard Vets will host the second event titled “From Victim to Victor”. The lively discussion will explore the challenges of clinical life and provide insight into how building healthy habits form the foundations for long-term success in the veterinary industry. Andy is a highly experienced small animal veterinarian, a transformational change leader, and a regular speaker at vet schools, conferences and events. A certified neuro strategist, Andy has spent the last 15 years exploring the world of personal development.
Expect honest conversation, a confronting Q&A session, and practical wellness strategies you can start incorporating immediately into your daily routine.
Lance Rice, creative director at ezyVet, said: “Our first Mindful May last year was a huge success. The month is now dedicated to mindfulness, well-being and self-care, which is hugely important in the veterinary industry. We’re already on target to have more than 1,000 vets and nurses from practices across the world attending these free webinars that are hosted by veterinary professionals for veterinary professionals.
“Andy is renowned for putting his audience in the driving seat and encouraging them to self-reflect and challenge their own thinking. Marie will combine honest conversation and confronting questions with practical wellness strategies that can be easily incorporated into daily routines.
“Because our hosts and audience are spread across the world, we know that some people won’t be able to watch them live, so we’ll make them available to view again afterwards through our website. Both promise to be invaluable events that will also count towards annual CPD requirements, so we’re encouraging vets and nurses to sign up now.”
Dr Andy Green, from Pennard Vets, said: “My webinar will explore the importance of vets and nurses taking charge of their destiny and approaching their personal and professional lives with an empowered mindset. This results in life happening for you, rather than to you if you give away your personal power. The veterinary industry is both devastatingly tough at times, as well as hugely rewarding, and I want to help people recognise that they have a choice when it comes to self-care, and I’ll explain to people the best way to start looking after themselves better.”
