Gudrun Ravetz appointed head of workplace engagement

Gudrun Ravetz has been appointed as head of workplace engagement for Vets4Pets, part of the Pets at Home Group

Vets4Pets, part of the Pets at Home Group, has appointed Gudrun Ravetz as head of workplace engagement in a move to further support the working lives of colleagues and partners in veterinary practices.

With more than 20 years’ experience, Gudrun Ravetz has an in-depth understanding of the veterinary sector. She has worked as a clinician in private practice and for charity, and is a former President of both the British Veterinary Association (BVA) and the Society of Practising Veterinary Surgeons.

In addition to her clinical experience, Gundrun has worked in several veterinary-related roles in industry, management and as a consultant, as well as being the chair for the BVA’s Good Veterinary Workplace Working Group.

In the newly created role, Gudrun Ravetz will work closely with colleagues and partners across Vets4Pets and Companion Care practices to support the implementation of the BVA’s Good Veterinary Workplaces Code as it continues to be adopted across the estate.

The appointment follows Vets4Pets’ inaugural Project Listen report, which revealed an industry-wide need for increased support and recognition and is part of an ongoing commitment to workplace engagement. This commitment includes several new initiatives that are designed to further support its colleagues and partners, such as a partnership with the veterinary flexible working group, Flexee, to better support practices with operational demands, and a commitment to provide a trained mental health first aider in every practice.

Gudrun Ravetz, BVSc, GDL, MRCVS, said: “Having been heavily involved in the work leading up to the Good Veterinary Workplaces Code during my time at the British Veterinary Association, I can fully relate to the many pressures that veterinary workplaces are currently under. Through supportive action and using evidence-based tools, I believe we can make a positive and lasting difference.

“It’s an honour to join Vets4Pets as we begin to implement its many commitments to improving the industry. I am excited to work towards a positive future for veterinary workplaces and being able to work with Vets4Pets to build a well-resourced and accessible tool for practices to implement good veterinary workplaces will help our practices to attract and retain the best clinical talent.”
