Small-scale clinical trials partnership

Veterinary Health Research Centers announce agreement with Paul Dick and Associates Partners to provide small-scale clinical trials

Paul Dick and Associates Limited (PDA), a leading consulting firm providing services to the human and animal health industries, today announced a strategic partnership with Veterinary Health Research Centers (VHRC), a CRO specializing in small-scale clinical trials using animals with conditions unavailable in canine and feline research colonies. The partnership with PDA, located in Canada, was announced at the Animal Health, Nutrition and Technology Innovation Europe 2022.

VHRC’s access to companion animal populations with spontaneous disease represents a unique, powerful and complementary model for studies of targeted therapies designed for both people and their pets,” says VHRC chief executive officer Dr Joel Ehrenzweig. “Early in the regulatory process, we can offer PDA clients an opportunity to test their novel therapeutics in treatment-naive populations and facilitate a sponsor’s understanding of the potentials for their innovative therapies by matching needy canine patients with cutting-edge treatment opportunities.”

Naturally occurring canine diseases, including cancer, often have human equivalents that are analogous in etiology, histology and clinical presentation. These disorders develop more quickly in dogs and frequently share the same environments, having been exposed to identical carcinogens.

With its in-depth understanding of their areas of expertise, PDA’s experienced team and partner organizations make for a best-in-class animal health and, as of 2017, a human consulting firm. It specializes in the creation of inventive business solutions, product development and regulatory strategies. These abilities combine to accurately evaluate market conditions, regulatory submissions, product development and strategic business plans in order to secure product licensing. In addition, PDA can offer a broad network of investors and consultants to advise clients.

Founded in 2010, PDA is a full-service consulting firm for the animal and human health industries that helps companies be strategic, navigate challenges along the regulatory and product development/ commercialization continuum and optimally position themselves for success in the marketplace. Clients range from start-up/emerging companies to medium-sized enterprises and large multinationals. Specific areas of focus include but are not limited to pharmaceuticals, biologics, natural heath products/VHPs and supplements, feed ingredients, pet food, diagnostics, wearables, telehealth and big data applications.

VHRC is a first-to-market initiative that expedites clinical trials for new technologies, products, medications, therapies and devices for both humans and animals. VHRC specializes in developing and conducting small-scale POC, pre-IND and pre-INAD studies for large and small pharmaceutical companies, biopharma, medical device and life science innovators.
