Applications are now open for the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA)’s clinical abstracts for 2023. The clinical abstracts provide an opportunity for the wider veterinary community to present current research to their peers at the BSAVA’s annual Congress in Manchester.
The clinical abstracts are part of an ever-expanding programme of CPD, focusing on the latest concepts and thinking from the profession since 1991.
They can be on any veterinary subject whether it’s the preliminary results of a new study, discussing new techniques, or describing an interesting case.
Applications are welcome from the whole veterinary profession, from veterinary surgeons and nurses to practice managers and veterinary students – submissions from those in general practice are especially encouraged. Researchers with research of direct relevance to veterinary practice may also submit an abstract for consideration.
The BSAVA would also like to encourage vet nurses to submit a case report. Aimed at all aspiring veterinary nurse speakers, case reports represent an engaging and interactive method for nurses to discuss unique cases or new techniques. Successful speakers can also become future speakers at Congress or other BSAVA events.
Kelly Eyre RVN, congress committee member said: “The Vet Nurse case reports are a really unique opportunity for veterinary nurses to speak at the BSAVA Congress.
“Whether they are a confident speaker, or haven’t experienced public speaking before, we are encouraging nurses to submit a case report and enjoy the experience!
“The cases can be related to any area of nursing, from anaesthesia to nurse clinics, there really is no limit.
“I’m really looking forward to watching nurses discuss their cases and enjoy the friendly and relaxing atmosphere that BSAVA continues to provide”.
Successful applicants are given a 15-minute slot to showcase their findings during the case report session. To apply, you need to submit a brief synopsis of their case, which must focus on small animal cases but can discuss any species and discipline.
Submissions for all clinical abstracts, including the vet nurse case reports will close on 14 November; successful authors will be notified in early 2023.
