VetPartners launches £100,000 research fund for clinical colleagues

VetPartners has underlined its commitment to clinical excellence by announcing a £100,000 fund

VetPartners has underlined its commitment to clinical excellence by announcing a £100,000 fund for its team members undertaking research projects. The aim is to improve the evidence base for clinical decision-making by increasing the amount of research across VetPartners’ practices.

The fund is open to VetPartners employees working in clinical settings in either the UK or Europe, wishing to carry out research within their job to answer key clinical questions, and is available to anyone working in any species.

Participants will be asked to pitch an idea to members of VetPartners’ Clinical Board and funding award will be approved by members of the Senior Management Team, including CEO Jo Malone and Director of Clinical Research and Excellence in Practice Rachel Dean.

Applications for the first round of funding open on 1 May and closes on 1 July.

Dr Rachel Dean said: “We are very excited to launch this fund that will benefit our team members and our businesses, whilst improving patient outcomes, care of animals and experience for our clients. We are dedicated to promoting evidence-based veterinary practice and so it is critical we fund practice-based research that answers the important questions our teams face every day.

“Through these awards we will also grow the clinical research community within VetPartners, increase the skills and knowledge of our team and increase job satisfaction for our colleagues.”

All projects will be registered with the VetPartners Clinical Board and will require ethical approval from either a recognised academic ethics panel or the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons ethics review panel, or overseas equivalent. Grant holders will be encouraged and supported to share their findings at external events, such as British Small Animal Veterinary Association, British Equine Veterinary Association and British Cattle Veterinary Association, and VetPartners will disseminate the findings to the wider profession.

A training programme to help upskill grant holders in all aspects of designing, carrying out, interpreting and writing up their projects will be organised by the VetPartners Clinical Board Support Team.

You can apply for the funding online.
