Virbac supports veterinary receptionists with launch of Dental Care Course

Virbac is pleased to support veterinary receptionists, who are invaluable within veterinary practice for their input into any preventative health initiative, with the launch of their Virbac Dental Care Course

Research shows that 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats develop periodontal disease by the age of three, making it the most common problem affecting dogs and cats (research by the American Veterinary Dental Association). In most practices, the time receptionists spend with clients’ pre- and post- consultation offers an ideal opportunity to talk about their pet’s dental health and can make a significant impact in educating clients and raising awareness to improve dental health care. And so, Virbac have launched a new Dental Care Course to support veterinary receptionists.

Working closely with the British Veterinary Receptionist Association (BVRA) to support them in their role, Virbac has launched three webinars that cover dental care from every angle.

Video one looks at periodontal disease, its stages, and the importance of dental health. Video two looks at active and passive dental home care, the products that are available and when each should be considered. Video three focuses on dental communication and how to overcome common objections such as “brushing is too difficult”.

Each webinar in the Dental Care Course has been created as a bite-size video that can be watched on-demand, while still providing useful content.

“The aim of the webinars is to give receptionists the confidence to proactively discuss dental care with clients, which we know can make a real difference to the health and well-being of the pet,” said Dan Johnson, product manager at Virbac. “The impact of periodontal disease can be severe, both locally and systemically, and practices can see a real benefit from investing in their reception teams.

“By giving their receptionists the knowledge and skills to play a greater role in the client journey they can make a huge impact in educating clients to improve the level of dental care.”

The webinars are available to view on the BVRA website, and for information on the Virbac Dental Range or any of the other products in the Virbac portfolio, please speak to your Virbac Territory Manager.
