The RCVS Academy, a free digital learning platform for the veterinary professions, has launched a new leadership versus management course.
The course designed to help learners understand the difference between leadership and management and how they interact in the workplace.
It explains the key distinctions between leadership and management and explores the attributes associated with leaders and managers.
RCVS leadership and inclusion manager Gurpreet Gill developed the course content.
She said: “Leadership and management are terms that are often used interchangeably, and this can sometimes cause confusion.
“Our new Academy course has been designed as a short introduction for anyone seeking to understand the difference between leadership and management and the ways in which they can be applied effectively.
“As well as exploring key ideas and definitions on the differences between the two concepts, our course will help you to identify situations that demonstrate when you are leading and when you are managing.
“The course also helps you to consider leadership and management skills and how you can refine your own style and approach.”
The leadership versus management course has been designed with the busy lifestyle of veterinary professionals in mind, says Gill.
“It contains a mix of reflective and practical exercises and takes around 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
“It can be completed in stages, and you can choose which sections you would find most useful to focus on.”
The course can be accessed for free via the RCVS Academy.
