This service steps beyond purely financial support, to cater for the physical and emotional needs of policy holders, at no extra cost.
If PG Mutual thinks it will aid a member’s recovery, it will provide them with rehabilitation support to help them get back to work as soon as possible.
In addition to this, members will continue to have access to care and support services, including a GP24/7 service, a counselling service, and a free health check after six months of PG Mutual membership.
“We know that working with horses will always have a level of unpredictability,” said David Mountford, chief executive of BEVA. “A kick or crush injury from a horse may prevent a member from working for weeks or months.
“These services not only provide peace of mind for income protection beyond statutory sick pay but can now also provide vital support for the physical and emotional aspects of our members’ well-being.”
The rehabilitation services is available to all relevant BEVA member policies free of charge, for both new and existing members.
In addition, members are eligible for 20 percent off their first two years with PG Mutual.
Even if a claim is made policy holders are likely to be eligible for a payout at the end of the policy term.
“Income Protection Plus is one part of the BEVA and PG Mutual joint initiative on the well-being of equine vets in the UK,” said Andy Elkington, PG Mutual chief executive. “Equine vets lead busy and hazardous lives and we feel that the rehabilitation support we can offer could aid member’s recovery and help them get back to work as soon as possible.”
