Royal Canin, a global expert in pet health through nutrition, will be hosting an exciting line-up of keynote presentations on pet health and well-being at the upcoming 48th World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Congress in Lisbon on 27 to 29 September 2023.
The congress will showcase a range of education and resources, lectures, and non-clinical presentations with the support of Royal Canin as a long-standing partner and gold sponsor.
The Royal Canin booth (number 20) will have a dedicated learning space and a series of masterclass presentations available in English and Portuguese, covering topics such as sustainability and the importance of a collaborative approach towards promoting healthy breeding and responsible selection in the face of the risks to health that extreme breeding creates.
Among the guest speaker list is associate professor Adam Rudinsky, from Ohio State University, who will present on gastrointestinal management for pets, and Dr Jane Ladlow, from the University of Cambridge, presenting a new respiratory function grading scheme to assess puppies with brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) – a complex and growing health challenge for brachycephalic pets.
“The development and alteration of physical traits in cat and dog breeds has led to some pets suffering from health issues, with a negative impact on their quality of life and life expectancy. At Royal Canin, we share the concern of many of our partners on this growing issue,” said Olivier Reymond, vice-president of veterinary business and corporate affairs at Royal Canin.
“We believe that our shared responsibility is to support the best possible health and well-being of cats and dogs and I am glad that the presentations at our booth in Lisbon will illustrate some of our recent efforts in that dimension.”
Royal Canin has long been dedicated to working together with veterinarians, breeders, pet professionals, and other partners across the pet ecosystem, providing educational resources on pet health and well-being.
To this end, the brand will organize a draw to offer free attendance at its 2024 Vet Symposium, which will be held on 9 and 10 April 2024, in the South of France.
