The strangles survey, carried out by Dechra and launched during Strangles Awareness Week (1 to 7 May 2023), will assess vets’ experiences of the disease, biosecurity and the important role of vaccination to help prevent strangles.
It includes questions on the number of strangles cases diagnosed in the last year, how the diagnosis was reached and in what instances they would recommend strangles vaccination.
There is a particular focus on the company’s intramuscular protein-based strangles vaccine for horses and ponies, Strangvac.
The strangles survey, which is approximately two minutes long, can be carried out online.
There will be a prize draw from completed entries, with one lucky winner receiving a £50 Amazon voucher.
“The strangles and strangles vaccination survey will provide us with a valuable insight into vets’ experiences of the disease and any vaccination and biosecurity trends that exist that may help us to improve the approach to disease management,” says Emma Jennings, equine brand manager at Dechra.
Dechra is a proud supporter of Strangles Awareness Week, a global, collaborative effort to prevent and manage strangles.
This year’s campaign aims to make regular temperature checking a habit to minimise the scale and impact of strangles.
