CVS launches unique new nursing hub

CVS has launched a unique nursing hub to help its existing and aspiring nurses to develop their skills, excel in their roles and progress their careers. Thought to be a first in the profession, the hub aims to provide a foundation in all of the attributes required of a great nurse in the veterinary profession – all in one place.

Recent CVS research has identified that one of the most frequent cited reasons for nurses resigning was career progression (36.7 percent). It is hoped that the breadth of development, training and support on the new nursing hub will further advance colleagues’ skills and knowledge, develop their career pathways, and empower nurses to take on more responsibilities.

The new hub comprises an extensive range of peer-reviewed courses, training and support, including the facility for nurses to develop their own personal career pathway.

A library of quality live and on-demand training exclusively for nurses will sit on the hub all in one place. CPD courses are divided into activity levels one to six within CVS’ Nursing Career Pathway to make it easy for nurses to access the CPD relevant to them.

Courses range from ‘bite sized’ short courses, professional gyms, guides and webinars, to longer ‘in-depth’ courses and Level 5 certificate programmes. Content includes; nursing the hospitalised patient, surgical schedule 3 and emergency and critical care courses. Some training is believed to be unique in the veterinary profession, having been designed by CVS’ in-house team.

The hub will also provide nursing colleagues with a network of support from outside of their department and practice. It includes a forum where colleagues can share experiences, learnings and collaborate. A community of colleagues on the hub, with similar experiences and challenges, will help to inspire confidence ensure nurses never feel alone when looking after a client or case.

The new nursing hub sits on CVS’ unique Knowledge Hub online educational platform, accessible to all of the group’s nursing employeesIt caters for nurses with a wide breadth of experience – from new starters to specialist nursing staff.

Tara Ryan, chief veterinary nursing officer at CVS Group, said: “We have some incredible nurses in our practices, with a wide range of skills and experience. They play an integral role in our practices. Until now we have never offered a bespoke Nursing hub to support to help them to grow and reach their potential.”
