The British Veterinary Association (BVA) has unveiled the hot topic debates veterinary professionals can join in the unique BVA Live Interactive Zone this summer. The challenges to cultivating positive workplace cultures, the pros and cons of the CMA review on the profession and the discussion on the future of RCVS governance are among the issues up for discussion.
The stimulating sessions are part of a jam-packed, two-day programme at BVA Live taking place at the NEC Birmingham, on 6-7 June 2024. BVA Officers – President Anna Judson, senior Vice President Malcolm Morley and junior Vice President Elizabeth Mullineaux – will lead the debates, digging into ethical dilemmas and exploring contentious issues in the BVA Interactive Zone.
This year’s BVA Live hot topics are:
- Can we build workplaces where everyone thrives? Launching at BVA Live, find out how Great Workplaces by BVA, our new workplace accreditation scheme, can help your team thrive
- CMA review – good or bad for the profession? An opportunity to have your say on the impacts of the review while exploring the opportunities for the profession to improve transparency and client care
- Should owning an animal be seen as a luxury? Attendees will discuss society’s relationship with animal ownership and how veterinary fees are funded, including the role contextualised care plays
- What’s the future of dangerous dogs legislation? An in-depth debate on the ramifications of recent changes to the Dangerous Dogs Act on owners, animals and vet teams and what next for breed specific legislation
- Should animal ownership be less and better? We consider whether pet ownership is detrimental to environmental sustainability and what can be done to mitigate this
- Should RCVS Council be appointed or elected? Join the discussion on the future of RCVS governance
