VET.CT supports universities and learners to get the grades

Attendees to its free exam preparation boot camps showed a boost in pass rate for the 2024 American College of Veterinary Radiologists (ACVR) boards at 86 percent, compared to the average of 79 percent

Remote and in-person support of radiology teaching provided by VET.CT has helped veterinary students and radiology residents achieve great learning outcomes through supporting on-site faculty. The company has a global network of board-certified radiologists providing a wealth of talent and experience to enrich the learning experience alongside university partners around the world, together producing some outstanding results.

Global teleradiology, education and specialist advice company, VET.CT, announced that attendees to its free exam preparation boot camps showed a boost in pass rate for the 2024 American College of Veterinary Radiologists (ACVR) boards at 86 percent, compared to the average of 79 percent. Final-year residents preparing to sit either ACVR or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) boards benefit from in-person expert teaching with world-leading radiologists, with no tie-in to the company. The boot camps provide an opportunity for group teaching, peer support and networking with a total of 386 residents having attended the events since they were launched in 2018.

The company also supports resident training through its ACVR-approved hybrid residency program, where it provides up to 50 percent of training remotely throughout a three-year residency alongside in-person faculty members. Several of the successful candidates have remained in academia, helping to teach the radiologists of the future. While, again, there is no tie-in to work for the company, Dr Shanna Marroquin, who completed the programme at Mississippi State University and chose to join VET.CT after achieving her diploma, said; “Having eminent radiologists with varied expertise teaching me remotely alongside the faculty members provided an extra level of understanding and helped equip me for sitting board exams and beyond. I’m now excited to be working as part of the team contributing to educating the next generation of radiologists.”

Marc Seitz, Associate Clinical Professor of Diagnostic Imaging at Mississippi State University,  highlighted how remote support has supported resident training; “VET.CT allowed us to stabilise our residency when we were down to just one on-site faculty through the creation of a hybrid programme that leveraged off-site diplomates. Even when we got back to the minimum required number of onsite faculty to run the residency, we kept VET.CT as part of the programme due to the diversity of training it adds.  It is so wonderful to have our residents experience a myriad of backgrounds from specialists trained and practising all across the world, including various modality and species specialists.

The faculty team also benefits from sharing the teaching load and peace of mind for their residents with VET.CT’s radiologists; “In addition to the benefits to the residents, VET.CT has supported our on-site faculty by allowing us to focus on non-residency related tasks, including the teaching of veterinary students and service to our university and national organisations.  We know our residents are well supervised when we have to step away for the occasional meeting or lecture.”
