CVS launches new and improved well-being hub

CVS has enhanced and improved its Well-being Hub to promote positive mental and physical wellbeing within its teams

Thought to be a first in the profession, the enhanced wellbeing hub aims to provide information colleagues may need to support their overall well-being – all in one place.

The hub contains guidance on physical, mental and financial well-being. It aims to promote healthy lifestyles, to create healthy and safe workspaces, to support mental wellbeing, to help with work-life balance, and to provide tools to help people to manage stress.

A wide portfolio of over 16 courses and resources are hosted on the hub. Learning includes online courses, webinars and CPD. While resources include advisory articles, videos, case studies, book recommendations, toolkits, guides and hand-outs on a wide variety of topics.

CVS’ Wellbeing Calendar of monthly themed advice, activities, resources and learning opportunities is also hosted on the hub. It offers colleagues seasonal guidance, such as January’s “Successful goal setting”, August’s “Benefits of being outdoors”, and December’s “Coping at Christmas”.

In addition, there is also a substantial Wellbeing Resource Library with 12 themes – including financial well-being, self-care and exercise – should colleagues wish to look up support on a given topic. Employee assistance programme contacts and resources can also be found.

The enhanced well-being hub is available on CVS’ unique Knowledge Hub Learning platform. It is accessible to all colleagues – both in practices and support operations. Almost all of the resources are free.

Sara White, well-being lead at CVS, said: “Our well-being hub is seen as key holistic well-being support for colleagues across CVS. Its wide range of online support and guidance is available and accessible 24/7/365.”

CVS has recently introduced a range of initiatives to promote wellbeing. This includes market-leading enhanced parental leave, time off for fertility treatment, additional sick leave for those experiencing an exceptional health event, and pregnancy loss policies. It also includes a health cash plan, an employee assistance programme, plus discounted critical illness cover, life and private medical insurances.

Over 400 CVS well-being champions and first aiders for mental health are trained to support team well-being. Regular monthly line-manager check-ins are also run – in which wellbeing is discussed.

The enhanced well-being hub is one of a number of hubs being developed by CVS’ well-being working group and its learning, education and development team. Other hubs include leadership, equity, diversity and inclusion and clinical improvement. To access the well-being hub visit Home: well-being hub.
