Felimazole now available as an oral solution

Dechra has extended its Felimazole range of products for the stabilisation of hyperthyroidism in cats prior to surgical thyroidectomy and for the long-term treatment of feline hyperthyroidism with the launch of felimazole oral solution

Felimazole oral solution 5mg/ml is honey flavoured and contains thiamazole as its active ingredient; it is available in 30ml or 100ml bottles with a syringe for precise dosing, has a two-year shelf life and a broached shelf life of six months.  Offering the flexibility of either a solution or tablet formulations will allow vets to customise treatment to suit their patients’ requirements and accommodate owners’ preferences.

Dechra has a range of endocrinology resources to provide vets with a ‘one stop shop’ of information to support endocrine cases including Cushing’s Connect and Addison’s Connect and the company’s Endocrine App to assist vets in the diagnosis and management of endocrine disorders in pets. With an easy-to-use interface and up-to-date information, the Endocrine App provides quick access to the latest diagnostic guides, treatment options, and recommended monitoring protocols for endocrine disorders.  It is available to download from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Dechra companion animal brand manager, Thomas Johnson, comments: “The addition of felimazole oral to our product range will provide vets with the flexibility to prescribe felimazole as either a tablet or oral solution to accommodate the preferences of both the cat and its owner.  This, combined with our extensive endocrinology resources, will ensure that vets have all the necessary tools to support their feline hyperthyroid cases.”
