Hartpury University introduces veterinary physiotherapy degree for 2026

The four-year Master’s programme combines undergraduate and postgraduate study, and comes off the back of a new veterinary nursing and technical skills centre officially opening this spring at the university

Hartpury University is excited to announce the launch of its new MVetPhys veterinary physiotherapy degree, that will welcome its first cohort of students in September 2026. The four-year programme combines undergraduate and postgraduate study, culminating in a master’s degree qualification, and is tailored for driven individuals eager to make a real difference in the field of veterinary physiotherapy.

The MVetPhys programme offers an in-depth curriculum covering key topics such as anatomy and physiology of animals, principles of physiotherapy, pathophysiology of animal injuries and conditions, biomechanics and gait analysis, and clinical practice and hands-on training. Students will benefit from a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, including industry placements and networking opportunities with experts in the field.

Graduates of the programme will be well-equipped for a range of career opportunities, including roles in veterinary clinics, animal rehabilitation centres, equine facilities, and research and education. The degree also supports entrepreneurial ambitions for those graduates who may start their own businesses in veterinary physiotherapy.

Hartpury University is in the process of gaining accreditation with the Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners (RAMP), a voluntary regulatory body that maintains high standards of practice in animal musculoskeletal treatment. This accreditation will further enhance the trust and credibility of graduates.

Students will be supported throughout their studies by a dedicated network of personal tutors, academic support teams, and wellbeing and employability resources.

Catherine Phillips, head of veterinary nursing at Hartpury University said: “We’re very excited about the introduction of this special degree that will prepare students for a successful career in veterinary physiotherapy. It has been designed to provide a well-rounded and robust educational experience, and to positively contribute to a community dedicated to advancing animal care and rehabilitation.

“It’s an exciting time for the veterinary nursing department at Hartpury University, with a brand-new veterinary nursing and technical skills centre officially opening this spring. The addition of this outstanding facility will help to create the perfect learning environment for those on this course as well as our range of RCVS-accredited veterinary nursing degrees.”
