Oral rehydration therapy training for veterinary receptionists and nurses launched

The training programme consists of seven bite-sized modules and is accessible through the British Veterinary Receptionist Association website

Animalcare, the distributor of Oralade Advanced GI+, is proud to announce the launch of a specialised training programme on oral rehydration therapy for veterinary receptionists and nurses.

Designed to equip practice teams with vital knowledge, the training is presented by Nicola Lakeman, an expert and advocate for advancing veterinary care.

Hosted on the British Veterinary Receptionist Association (BVRA) website, the programme consists of seven bite-sized modules, designed to offer flexibility, fitting into practice schedules ensuring accessibility while delivering valuable insights to enhance patient care.

Training topics include:

  • Assessing hydration and dehydration
  • Preventing fluid loss
  • Supporting patients undergoing anaesthesia
  • Managing kidney patients
  • Handling gastrointestinal (GI) cases

Kai Crawshaw, brand manager at Animalcare, said: “GI cases are among the most frequent reasons pet owners reach out to practices and often, these calls revolve around seeking advice on managing symptoms at home. This training will help veterinary receptionists and nurses gain the confidence and knowledge to handle these enquiries and ensure that pet owners receive prompt, accurate guidance.”

The training is available on the BVRA website, offering immediate value to practices looking to elevate their service and support for pet owners.
