VetPartners has issued its first “Sustainability and Giving Back Report” showcasing how practices their are becoming more environmentally aware and also raising thousands of pounds to help charities and worthy causes.
Thanks to the passion and commitment of colleagues across the group, VetPartners is on track to achieve – and, in some cases, exceed – 19 of 21 of the key targets set in the group’s first sustainability strategy, entitled “Looking forward together”, published in January 2021.
Since the launch of the strategy, VetPartners and its practices have recycled more than five tonnes of PPE, exceeded the predicted number of practices signing up for the Investors in the Environment accreditation and created homes for nature in our outdoor spaces.
They have also stepped up fundraising efforts across the group, raising more than £45,000 for a wide range of charities and worthy causes, including Pets As Therapy and The Cinnamon Trust. They raised £20,000 to help humanitarian and animal welfare charities working in Ukraine during the current conflict after VetPartners matched the amount raised by its practices, and also arranged collection of 600 pet carriers for people fleeing the war-torn country with their pets.

Hannah said: “When we published our sustainability strategy, we committed to 21 targets we wanted to achieve by 2026. We thought it was important we held ourselves to account and be transparent about what we are doing, as well as celebrate the achievements of colleagues.
“We have re-examined all the targets to ensure they are still relevant and in some cases we’ve made changes or raised the bar to push ourselves even more.
“It is great to see how much we have achieved with our collective purpose and energy. Our colleagues are so passionate about sustainability, and as well as making changes in their own practices, many of them are working collaboratively to push for positive changes in the wider industry and society as members of working groups within the profession, winning grants for research into sustainable veterinary care, advising clients on positive changes they can make, and many more actions which are having a big impact.”
The Sustainability and Giving Back Report contains a review of progress against the targets and details of how VetPartners plan to achieve them.
