Zoetis now accepting pre-orders for Vetscan OptiCell

The company is accepting pre-orders of its new point-of-care veterinary haematology analyser

Zoetis Inc., the world’s leading animal health company, has begun accepting pre-orders of its new point-of-care veterinary haematology analyser, VetscanOptiCell, in response to market interest. The first-of-its kind cartridge-based diagnostic tool is available for pre-sale in the United Kingdom, with installations expected to start in January 2025.

The product, which provides Complete Blood Count (CBC) analysis using next generation AI technology, will be on public display for the first time at the London Vet Show, 14 to 15 November.

Vetscan OptiCell, a cartridge-based, AI-powered diagnostic tool that provides advanced Complete Blood Count (CBC) analysis, is the latest point-of-care diagnostic solution being brought to market by Zoetis. The analyser offers veterinary professionals accurate haematology insights for faster and more confident diagnosis and treatment. Its self-contained cartridge system simplifies diagnostics in clinics to provide quick, reliable and valuable results with minimal sample preparation or maintenance requirements. Integrated within the comprehensive suite of diagnostic products and services and supported by the Zoetis Virtual Laboratory, the product reflects the company’s continued commitment to meaningful innovation.

Abhay Nayak, president of global diagnostics at Zoetis said: “The positive response we’ve seen from the veterinary community highlights the demand for innovative diagnostic solutions that improve clinic workflows, reduce costs and elevate patient care and outcomes. Vetscan OptiCell checks all the boxes. It’s a very welcome addition to our best-in-class diagnostics portfolio, which brings reference lab quality1 CBC analysis directly into the clinic, empowering vets to deliver the best care available.”

The screenless cartridge-based automated CBC analyser offers enhanced 3D cell classification to deliver results with accuracy in minutes, resulting in valuable time freed for veterinary staff to spend supporting patients. The unique cartridge design streamlines the process and is quick to adopt and easy to use, while its minimal size allows for more available bench space.

Vetscan OptiCell is the second haematology analyser available to Zoetis customers, alongside Vetscan HM5, which will continue to be sold and supported. It can also be paired with Vetscan Imagyst AI Blood Smear capability to provide a comprehensive haematological picture. As part of the Zoetis Virtual Laboratory, vets can also access support from the integrated global network of board-certified specialists.
