The Veterinary Defence Society (VDS) has announced the return of its popular Recent Graduate Event, taking place on Friday 6 March 2026 at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
This full-day CPD event is aimed at veterinary surgeons in their first five years of practice. Set in a relaxed and supportive environment, the programme has been designed to help recently graduated vets grow their confidence, reflect on their early experiences in practice, and connect with others at a similar stage in their careers.
The programme will include:
- Cautionary Tales LIVE! from the VDS claims team
- Interactive workshops led by VDS training
- Insightful discussions with the VetSafe team on learning from mistakes
- A Q and A session with representatives from VDS, VetSafe, VDS training and the British Veterinary Association (BVA)
- A closing drinks reception in the gardens
BVA will also deliver a session on creating and identifying a great veterinary workplace, an essential topic for those navigating the early years of practice.
Jo Stonehewer, director of membership, said: “We know the early years of veterinary practice can be exciting but also daunting. This event is about giving recently graduated vets the space, tools and support to build their confidence and grow, not just in clinical skill, but as professionals and people. We’re delighted to be bringing this community together again in 2026.”
Tickets are priced at £50 +VAT, which includes lunch, refreshments, 7.5 hours of CPD, and access to a digital delegate bag filled with practical resources and takeaways.
BVA members receive a 10 percent discount via an exclusive code. Places are limited. For more information or to book, visit the VDS website.
