Farm vets are invited to find out more about building strong, trust-based relationships with their sheep farmer clients at an online panel discussion and live Q and A next month.
The free webinar – breaking barriers: case studies on farmer engagement for effective parasite control – will take place at 8pm on Tuesday 17 June.
Organised by Elanco Animal Health, the webinar will be chaired by independent sheep consultant, Nerys Wright, and explore the common challenges vets and farmers face when connecting and collaborating effectively.
A panel of four practising sheep vets will share their experiences in this area, using real farm case studies to illustrate how they build relationships with sheep farmers to improve flock management – and parasite control in particular.
The vets speaking at the event are:
- Dawn Bowness, farm clinical director at North Yorkshire-based Clevedale Farm Vets
- John Hemingway from Shropshire Farm Vets
- Kaz Strycharczyk from Black Sheep Farm Health in Northumberland
- Will Allman, director at Herefordshire-based Belmont Farm and Equine Vets
“In most vet practices there is someone who is keen to do sheep work, and we know farmers want a better relationship with their vet; this workshop is designed to marry the two,” says Nerys.
“Our panel of speakers will share their tips and tricks for working successfully with sheep farmers, before discussing a pair of farm case studies where the vet and farmer worked together to successfully tackle a parasite problem.”
She is encouraging all farm vets with an interest in sheep to register to take part in next month’s event.
“The webinar will provide a great opportunity to gain practical tools for initiating meaningful on-farm conversations and building rapport with sheep farmer clients,” adds Nerys.
“Participants will also get the chance to ask questions of the panel during a live Q and A session.”
Attendees will need to register for the event. You can find further information and to sign up to the event here. Alternatively, you can scan the QR code below:
