Improve Veterinary Education launches fully funded scholarships for small animal soft tissue surgery and small animal medicine programmes

Applications are now open for the small animal soft tissue surgery and small animal medicine postgraduate certificate programmes – two of the most comprehensive and career-defining qualifications offered by Improve Veterinary Education

Improve Veterinary Education, a global leader in postgraduate veterinary training, has announced the launch of two fully funded scholarships aimed at advancing clinical excellence in small animal practice.

Applications are now open for the small animal soft tissue surgery and small animal medicine postgraduate certificate (PgC) programmes – two of the most comprehensive and career-defining qualifications offered by Improve Veterinary Education.

These prestigious scholarships are designed to support veterinary surgeons who demonstrate exceptional commitment to professional growth and a passion for improving patient outcomes. Each award covers the full tuition fee for the 12-month programmes, including both online learning and practical training sessions led by internationally recognised experts.

Heber Alves, CEO at Improve Veterinary Education, commented: “Our aim is to make high-quality training more accessible to the most dedicated veterinary professionals, regardless of financial barriers. These scholarships represent a meaningful investment in the future of the veterinary profession.”

The small animal soft tissue surgery PgC equips vets with the knowledge, hands-on skills, decision-making ability, and confidence to manage a wide range of surgical cases. The small animal medicine PgC, delivers in-depth diagnostic, therapeutic and clinical reasoning skills to help vets provide optimal care for internal medicine cases in everyday practice.

Both programmes have been redeveloped in 2025 to reflect the latest advances in veterinary education and clinical practice. With enhanced practical training, more flexible online learning, and a greater emphasis on clinical decision-making, they are designed to deliver an immersive, real-life learning experience. Veterinary surgeons will benefit from an upgraded curriculum that blends academic rigour with practical application, preparing them to meet the demands of modern veterinary care with confidence.

Applications close for the small animal soft tissue scholarship on 15 August 2025, and the small animal medicine scholarship closes on 5 September 2025.

Applications are open to practising veterinary surgeons who meet the eligibility criteria. Shortlisted applicants will be assessed based on professional motivation, career aspirations, and commitment to the profession.
