Veterinary practices across the UK have just one week left to nominate themselves for the SPVS Veterinary Business Excellence Awards 2025, with entries closing at 5pm on Friday 17 October. Applications, which take no longer than 30 minutes, can be made here.
Now in its third year, the awards celebrate outstanding veterinary practices that demonstrate excellence, innovation and leadership in key areas shaping the future of the profession. Organised by the Society of Practising Veterinary Surgeons (SPVS), the initiative recognises practices that are not only excelling in business but also creating positive, thriving workplaces and delivering exceptional care.
Supported by headline sponsor Shire Insurance, the 2025 awards feature three categories, each aligned with SPVS’s core pillars of leadership, team development, and veterinary start-ups.
Dr Daniel Lee, director and veterinary surgeon at Manchester Cat Clinic (Figure 1), who were the overall award winners last year stated that: “We entered SPVS Business Excellence Awards to celebrate our team’s hard work and our unique approach to feline care. The process gave us fresh insights into our business, encouraged reflection on our growth and connected us with like-minded practices striving for excellence.”
SPVS Senior Vice President Silvia Janska commented, “We’re delighted to run these awards. There may be many challenges for anyone running a veterinary practice in 2025 but award applications show that veterinary teams are responding with innovation and enthusiasm to improve animal welfare, client experience and team development and wellbeing. This is a wonderful opportunity to take pride in our sector and to subsequently share best practice. I encourage all practices to consider the areas where they are achieving excellence and to make an application.”
Each category winner will receive full day and evening tickets to SPVS Congress 2026, plus overnight accommodation at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, where the overall winner will be announced during the Congress opening ceremony on Thursday 26 February 2026. Shortlisted practices will also receive a textbook from 5M Books’ professional collection and have the opportunity to present their insights to the SPVS community.
Practices can submit their nominations online before 5pm on the 17th of October here.
