Summary of Rosie's Case
Happily, Rosie responded well to the treatment administered and after a few hours of fluid therapy, her parameters were normal, and she was no longer collapsed. She was offered some food and ate well with no signs of nausea or vomiting. She remained hospitalised for monitoring but no ongoing treatment was required.
Full transparency – Rosie is my own dog! We still do not know what caused the anaphylactic reaction but likely it was something she came across in the garden, however we could not find any evidence of the cause. Rosie has had many problems over the years including a diaphragmatic hernia as a puppy which resulted in an exploratory laparotomy and splenectomy but she is currently going strong!
