Sacculectomy

This video provides a step-by-step guide on how to perform a sacculectomy procedure using a closed technique. Identification of the exit to the anal gland, guidance as to where to make the skin incision and how progress the procedure including blunt dissection through the subcutaneous tissue, and freeing the anal gland from the external anal sphincter. The video guides you to locate the anal sac and notes areas to pay particular attention to such as taking care to preserve the muscle fibres of the external anal sphincter. Once the anal gland has been completely dissected, ligation of the duct is demonstrated along with a two layer closure of the incision, and post-operative care considerations are discussed.
