Ultrasound-guided TAP block

This video demonstrates the technique to perform a TAP block. The TAP block procedure is a technique that uses ultrasound imaging to visualise the muscle layers of the abdomen. A local anaesthetic is injected between the transverse muscle of the abdominal fascia and the fascia of the internal oblique muscle, with the needle inserted parallel to the muscular layers. The correct position is confirmed by injecting the local anaesthetic and visualising it on the ultrasound. This creates a longitudinal extension between the muscular layers.
