Echo-guided RUMM block – Part 2 – radial nerve

To perform a radial nerve block, the patient is positioned in lateral recumbency with the limb to be blocked uppermost. The ultrasound probe is used to locate the humerus and identify the radial nerve. The needle is then inserted until it touches the bone near the radial nerve, withdrawn slightly and then aspirated to ensure no blood is present. Local anesthetic is then injected to surround the nerve.
